Once upon an end-time, songs, Were written all the same... Though they vary every pitch, The end betrays their aims... Glitter gleams and never leaves, For those who most ad-here... Dance and dream all born to lead, For messages, ya beg to hear... Once upon an end-time, songs, Were written by ma-chines... Dance in algorithmic webs, Of syncopated grief... Love and hate, they're alternating, In vapid reverie... Calls of want, they crave response, To desperate unmet needs... Once upon an end-time, songs, Made montage-worthy claims... Journeying their noble cause, Of legacy in fame... All the world a cyber-staging, Pretend in play belief... Art creates life imitating, But nothing quite like me...

Oh, damn these Hard times in Hardwick Gotta' sober up for work Breakfast in a thermos Last night’s dinner on my shirt If I could get my shit together Well life could be just fine I wonder how But then I wonder why I can’t call to let my boss do her whole "screaming thing" Can’t find a signal, guess she’ll find out when I’m late I wonder what she does back home, when, each day is through Well, she prob'ly drinks, and, plans how I'll quit too Chorus Well I'm searching for a reason Or something I have learned Hunting for a shit to give To the dumpster as it burns But if it’s any consolation In the smoke, and through the flames Well, boss, you get a great view as I walk away Chorus ....... Chorus I got that winter chill, in Gilbertville Gotta' sober up for work Breakfast in a thermos And fireball on my shirt If I could get my shit together Well life could be just fine I wonder how But then I wonder why Had me a rough night in Wheelwright I gotta' sober up for work Breakfast in a thermos And bongwater on my shirt If I could get my shit together Well life could be just fine I wonder how But then I wonder why I’m just a hot mess here in Old Furnace I gotta' sober up for work Shotgun by my bedside Smell of moonshine on my shirt If I could get my shit together Well life could be just fine I wonder how But then I wonder why ..... Goddamn these Hard times in Hardwick I gotta' sober up for work Breakfast in a thermos Once a person in this shirt If I could get my shit together Well life could be just fine I wonder how But then I wonder why If I could get my shit together Well YOUR life could be just fine I wonder how But then I wonder why If I could get my shit together Well those lies would be just fine I wonder how But then I wonder why I wonder how, but then I wonder why....

Oh if I die... In the middle of this lonely night... In the middle of this lonely night... That would be alright... Oh, the hearts you broke Still have to beat And through the cracks We're gonna bleed And if it heals Or if it flows Well, heaven only knows Bur if I die... In the middle of this lonely night... In the middle of this lonely night... That would be alright... And if I die... In the middle of this lonesome night... When you didn't even say goodbye... That would be just fine... In passages left incomplete lie fragments of that shattered dream And I confess I may obsess I just can't let ya go In the wreckage you can find Those remnants of a wretched mind that Used to love tomorrow What comes tomorrow? Worse than any fool you came to cheat Or longing rube that made believe The liar that you made of me Still cant believe you're gone Oh if I die... In the middle of this lonely night... In the middle of this lonely night... That would be alright... And if I die... In the middle of this lonesome night... When you didn't even say goodbye... That would be just fine... Oh if I die... In the middle of this lonely night... In the middle of this lonely night... That would be alright... And if I die... In the middle of this fuckin' night... In the middle of this fuckin' night... That would be alright...

One look is all it takes, when Moments all look the same Do answered prayers lie before me? Once a bore turned "might-adore-me" All you ask and more, I'll give, please Tailor sails of open doors for me Tell me what to do I wanna look like you One touch is all it takes, in Cloth cut off feelin' great Embrace me, aid me, drawing eyes Finally I'm recognized There's no sweat in my big 'ole smile Glad as rags, we're now alive Tell me what to do I wanna feel like you One jingle's all it took One sound bite baits the hook I'll swallow any lines I'm fed Regurgitating back to them Your ideas, but I professed, and Raised myself while they were blessed Tell me what to do I wanna lead like you Did you ever wanna' see What we're keeping out of your dreams on a silver platitude we give you peace In a world that's been ending Did you ever stop and think If no one else, it's gonna be me Monsters leave, just look Elsewhere, please in this Playful pre-ten-ding They sang and all it took, was Praising their tasteful hook Trolling minnows, shoaling bait Patrolling for a mournful fait Captivate then lead to ends, I'll Swallow each re-morsel fed Tell me what to do I wanna lead like you One voice is all it takes When words all sound the same You're poppin' vox's off in the street With orchestrated melody Of boastful social ventriloquy Our freest mandatory speech Tell me what to do I wanna think like you Did you ever wanna' see What we're keeping out of your dreams on a silver platitude we give you peace In a world that's been ending Did you ever stop and think If no one else, it's gonna be me Monsters leave, just look elsewhere, please In this playful pre-ten-ding Move me, pose me Just want more me for this Road before me So grand... Risin' suddenly to Might and luxury Clash of classes beneath... If it's war you need I'll be your goddamn king Hear ye of all that's great As I perseverate, my Logos are my ethos now Draped in sacred brands of cow Cast your ballot on a sea Of outcomes leading back to me My Reps and Sets, well They comfort me To exercise futility Tell me what to do I'm really just like you...

You know that I'm a Bad mother fucker… I got a serial number… Poppin off .40's At dawn I'm Patrolling the waves (and turnin' them graves) You see I hang n' slay 10's son Says so on the badge tell ya girl chump You'd be gladder as a rag, Or a mirror, then you'd almost be me Lady law still gave these rules to you And she need me to teach you Fools Born in the barrel and I'm Gunning for you .... I love my Navy SEALs (I shoulda been one) I've sure have seen some hell Week re-runs Chris Kyle's picture in my wallet (Get over your falls, not, the fallen) I'm here to punish these streets Dumping rounds into Sheet rock and Your mama's sheets Drawing a bead on any Punk I see To bad my Sights weren't made for Shark sightings ..... Protect and surf Better earn your Space on my turf Maybe if you really Wanted peace You'd be prayin' to me Protect and surf Prove you're worth, more than anything less Wellfare only cuz I gave it to you Maybe I'll even save your chil-dren too If you Tow my line, life, gets Easy as pi-ie Fresher than my shoulda known Better of a knockout wife... But make just One false move and I'll Drop you too Just like shootin' Fish in a school... I got no time for dissenters So cut the chatter The deep blue line is where Your life could matter Reppin' white water since 88 Maybe my boots will change their taste Protect and surf x3 My way, through another day Protect and surf Protect no serf Protect the surf only Where n' when Surf works You see the Devils in the details That matter The devil calls your unions All unholy commie blather The devils in your coattails Riding borrowed power The devil pays a gun to Watch us all work For what he makes an hour ....

Hand-me-down-madness And all that it takes Is for poor little hearts that only Beat when they shake There's a Hand-me-down-madness In my family tree And it surely will fall Upon me And it surely will fall Upon me Hand-me-down-madness Those little eyes spy When fright worse than lightning Keeps you up through the night There's seeds made of evil In my family tree Though they only are growing From me Though they only are growing From me Hand-me-down-madness Did god go away? When clothed under covers but You still feel their shame There's genes of a demon In my family tree And I'll cry 'til they die here with me I'll cry 'til they die here with me Hand-me-down-madness And would you believe Survivalist childhood Ain't so hard to see But, ruling was soothing So you chose not to speak And silence sang "complicity" Hand-me-down-madness We gave through the hate, so Demand-side economics Makes you bow till you break There's a hand-me-down madness In the family tree, and I'd Rather it die here with me Hand-me-down-madness And all that it takes Is for poor little hearts That only beat when they break There's a hand-me-down-madness In our family tree And it Ain't goin' nowhere But me

Decades dragged in stacks Walked in the room But all you stand to mention's what my Face will put you through So cry that I don't smile But let me be Go back to you and just Leave me to me To keep my head from hanging There's a weight I fight Pretend you understand It must be me That ain't quite right So blab and bitch But sure as shit You don't add To that heap Go back to you and Leave me to me Call me cynic, go dismissing Hope I go on wishing That others listen When convinced by you But there's a price of lifetimes Hiding others from their truth And those (II) flimsy lies That you hide behind Won't Keep God From You When your high chair had a trapdoor Every breath's a crime But when you Beat the hangman daily You stop fearing "Still alive" Make your nooses Laughing and smiling I'll wear your Bolo ties To my dying Or go back to you, and Leave me to me Go back to you or you're Leaving with me If ever more than never Well it's now arrived This no one's Ever said before's Named only First in line See, hell's only a tragedy when Others don't go free Go back to you and Leave me to me Go back to you and Leave me to me Go back to you and Leave them to me Go back to you and Leave them for me

Chorus I'm swapping out my heartaches every day So I don't have to feel the same pain But things that beat it at the start Can't seem to heal my broken heart We're biding our time and just Hoping this knot will unwind itself But even with practice I can't seem to hack it when I life to myself (Chorus) You get used to chasing Denying we're wasting Our lives this way But wait too much time For the bandage to dry You'll have to rip it away Delaying introspection Is just a stay of Execution Your courage and faith Have been shaken Into disillusion (Chorus)
9.
Chorus It's in the little things I see In someone just like me It's sad to watch you leave Oh but I'll see you again, in those Little things I see In someone just like me It's sad to watch you leave Oh but I'll see you again Somewhere in the haste And lack of quiet space Life became an acquired taste Like cheap scotch and Burning plastic Short when it's sweet Then back on that machine We're just electrical meat Blowin' circuits, but in those... (Chorus) Strange as it seems It's no easy feat Getting used to consistency That somehow means "better" Some have old dreams And others find their feet Looking back at memories with Eyes that got better, in those... (Chorus) Next time that we meet However long or brief Looking for the things That keep you going Laugh along with me Smile in line with me We all get our little piece Of the nightmare But in moments like these I think I found my island, in those... (Chorus)

Oh, the mightiest love From way high above Gave these words to you My gentle arms don't Stretch that far I'm not reaching you So, then came my best Once more piece of my chest But, that got all mixed up too So, here's what we've come to All that there's left to do Oh, just laugh a little more Like once we'd done before Start that little light inside you now oooooh Start that little light inside you now oooooh Start that little light inside - O-oh Brother, why you still running from less than the best of your days? Don't you know there's a hope in just trying To change your ways? Give your soul a little healing In this war, ain't no retreating Start that little light inside you now oooooh Start that little light inside you now oooooh Start that little light inside - O-oh Sister, why you still crying Over just another broken heart? Don't you know there's a greater love in a brand new start? Give your soul a little healing Those flames will roar If you believe it Start that little light inside you now oooooh Start that little light inside you now oooooh Start that little light inside - Oh, just laugh a little more Like once we'd done before Start that little light inside you now oooooh Start that little light inside you now oooooh Start that little light inside - You now...

Well Gather 'round and listen And I'll tell you of a place Where foundry slag Wore branded rags on his Sorry, sunken face In a barracks filled with gadgets While his mind lay blank and bare Redesigned Says when and why We care da-da-da Slow suicide At the self-worth checkout line Demons love the pieces of The hearts they sell and buy Shuffle ahead we've all been Marching on their line Dancin' marionettes Into oblivion Well, Mama Cow, Papa Chimp And all my inbred progeny While we're casting off, You're casting lots, in this Saccharine Hack-led Self-fulfilling Profit sea And at this "Follow your diss," stance We're just your lively comedy But from Where I'm standing in This panic cult took Someone else's dreams When you couldn't Just dream your own Hearts a' thundering lithium And shadows lag behind Death and guns You never made me run You never ran my life Scream the absent, Vacant, vapid Hymns you made Me sing Love beat death And laid to rest your Bargain-bin "Believe" Slow suicide Buy me self Worth checkout line Talkin' heads, they say "Jesus lives!" But Sean goes off To die Shuffle ahead I'm just their mark So march in line Mark-time marchin' Off until I'm Leavin' on my Shoulda fuckin' Left Right? Yeah! Well, Glamor mags make You and me sad for Livin' off of what pennies They don't take And the Tabloids bring back past celebs to Squeeze a few more dollars Smearin' names And they'll Dig 'em up just One more time and Laugh at all who They say fell from grace (but is that really graaace?) In this Vicious, masochistic Kind of joy They're not REAL people Anyway (But then what'll you do with me?!) Slow suicide Endless selves all tellin' lies The irony of their pastiche me's The blasphemies of mine Shop for drop-worn promises and Plays for pre-made minds Cycling recycle, let us Prey upon my mind Cycling, recycling I pray I made my mind Cycle me, recycle me, to Oblivion Slow suicide Through my self-worth redefined Spend my debt then force me there Lend meaning to my life O-oh say, confess My uselessness Your evil deeds were mine Mark-time marching Softer to O-bli-vi-o-on... Join the huddled masses as we All line up and cheer Our hearts swell with devotion while your Eyes light up with fear Can convict, orphaned Conscripts gore your Coward's conscience clean Proudly served, Did we deserve The Ameri-can dream?

This land was your land But now it's my land Last-standing bastards We'll just keep lying France beat the British Best not to mention Cuz, this land was made for you by me This land was made for you by me This land was given By god and "Injuns" Some Dago sailed wrong But we ain't changing Refund your wampum? Leave none to cry, then This land was claimed for you by me God blessed this land for you since me Northern aggression Makes war uncivil Was really states' rights To owning people Now freedom's ringin' Inside our prisons Destiny slaves for you and me Come lease some slaves They're owned by me Wiped out a tribe to Carve out a mountain Made famous faces Look quite stounding Three of the greatest And me the proudest Rode n' roughed 'em up For you and me Children fight real tough Till they face me In Guatemala We went bananas You saw a profit Not propaganda It's not demonic Just economics Place some losing bets And die by me Play some losing Hands They're dealt by me Ask me my pronouns They're Hi, Ro, ShI, Ma Stop Asian hate, pled Murdered civilians War sooner ended Don't say "internment" This land was saved for you by me This land was saved for you by me This land was your land But now it's my land Last-standing bastards We're lying, smiling Don't mess with Texans They'll die for nothing This land was claimed for you by me This land was saved for you by me This land was made for you by me

about

Holy Fool's first studio album, "American Dreams," was released in October 2022. Though intended to be a shorter LP, its first crop of songs quickly implied a broader narrative.

As such, "American Dreams" became a collage of various musical styles, whimsically set to a collection of fanciful thoughts and poor choices.

While each song describes a different hardship in the modern world, collectively, they question if we should even lament its demise.

Initial tracks were recorded single-take, on a hand mic in a third-story bathroom, with an acoustic guitar.

Additional instruments and mastering was provided by Wachusett Recording.

After almost a decade, I finally enjoyed the experience of hearing these songs being played by a full band.
